Dimmable ballasts with numerous new features

Dornbirn, Austria – Tridonic as market leader for digital dimming offers a new product generation which raises the level of dimmable ballasts in terms of functionality, comfort, performance and efficiency. All the devices in the PCA series are in CELMA Class A1 BAT and have a typical standby consumption < 200 mW. They have a life of up to 100,000 hours at ta 50 °C. Tridonic offers a 5-year guarantee on all of them. Safety is the number one priority. This is provided by two major protection functions, namely Intelligent Temperature Guard (thermal protection) and Intelligent Voltage Guard (overvoltage indication and overvoltage shutdown). The portfolio of the PCA series covers all the usual lamp types (T5 HO and HE, T8, TC-L, TC-F, T5c, etc.). It also supports special types, such as amalgam lamps and energy-optimised T5 versions.

To ensure intuitive commissioning all Tridonic ballasts are equipped with an interface that provides multiple control options. A special feature of the PCA series is that each control version is wired via the same connections. The device detects the control version and automatically switches to the appropriate mode. Flexible dimmable lighting systems can therefore be put into operation very quickly and without the need for any additional aids.

The integrated SMART interface offers a wide range of intuitive Plug-and-Play options. Depending on the series, the integratable SMART sensors can cover daylight control, presence detection and infra-red control. The SMART interface can also be used for configuring a lighting system and setting the parameters. SMART plugs are available for this purpose. With appropriate preprogramming they can be easily incorporated in the relevant PCA ballast.
 

Three series for clear orientation

The new PCA product range comprises the following three series:
 

• Models in the PCA EXCEL one4all series are so versatile and convenient that they open up new lighting solutions and offer innovative additional functions
• The PCA ECO series supports all the usual digital communication standards. These devices combine performance with ecological and economic benefits
• Ballasts in the PCA BASIC series target energy efficiency and provide the basis for simple solutions. They are a real alternative in non-dimmable applications
   

Tridonic offers these three series so that customers have a choice of technical features in clearly defined packages. The aim is to provide fixture manufacturers with precisely the functionality that they need for their products.
