Ideally equipped for urban lighting


PCI outdoor FOX B011 and PCI outdoor DIM B011 from Tridonic help make urban environments more attractive. This extension to the portfolio means that all metal halide lamps designed for urban lighting are now covered. The focus here is on energy efficiency, high quality of light and lowest possible maintenance costs.

Dornbirn, Austria – The single-lamp PCI outdoor DIM B011 and PCI outdoor FOX B011 ballasts presented by TridonicAtco GmbH & Co. KG at Light & Building 2010 help make cities more attractive. They have been designed specifically for operating the energy-efficient CosmoWhite metal halide lamps from Philips and the corresponding UrbanWhite lamps from Sylvania. The casing dimensions of 150 mm x 90 mm x 40 mm of the dimmable and non-dimmable versions, which are available with wattages of 45 W, 60 W, 90 W and 140 W, indicate that these additions belong to the PCIS outdoor family for standard wattages. The Streetwise lamps from GE Lighting, which have also been designed for urban lighting, can be operated with the existing outdoor devices in accordance with their specifications so that the benefits of dimmability and longer life can be fully exploited.

With their power reduction options the dimmable PCI outdoor DIM B011 devices are truly multitalented and are ideal components for modern lighting systems. They offer not only considerable potential for energy savings but also high levels of comfort and quality of light.

A specific luminous flux value can be selected in "step dimming" mode via an additional 230 V control line to achieve energy savings of up to 50 % by reducing light output at night. The brightness level can also be reduced via the digital ZRM U6M power changeover switch from Tridonic at defined times – entirely without control lines.

With the same PCIS outdoor DIM B011 devices the luminous flux can be infinitely adjusted in the range from 40 % to 100 % via DALI or DSI signals depending on the high-intensity discharge lamp used This provides the ideal basis for pioneering lighting management solutions that adjust the lighting level to suit actual requirements – for example more light at accident blackspots or during bad weather, and reduced brightness at low traffic volumes, in bright moon-lit nights or for counteracting energy peaks.

Via the digital interface, both the dimmable PCI outdoor DIM B011 versions and the non-dimmable but less costly PCIS B outdoor FOX B011 versions can be integrated in intelligent lighting control systems for outdoor applications. Fault reporting and checks on the device and lamp status result in efficient system monitoring, which reduces maintenance costs to a minimum.
